In this course, you will gain the foundational knowledge and skills to effectively manage grant programs. This course is ideal for new grant managers and individuals who have recently secured a grant and are unsure of how to navigate the process. By the end of this training, you will have established the foundational systems and procedures to manage your grant program efficiently.

Course Outline

Module 1 – Grant Manager Expectations

Responsibilities of grant managers; identifying and managing expectations related to grant funding; understanding where to find your grant’s foundational documents; organizing and planning your grant work; developing a logic model for your grant project. 

Module 2 – Grant Outcomes & Deliverables

Responsibilities to plan effective communication with your grant stakeholders; reviewing project management concepts relevant to grant managers; identifying your grant strategies, activities, deliverables, and outcomes; designing a deliverables dashboard for your grant project. 

Module 3 – Grant Documentation

Responsibilities for documentation and communication; overview of types of incoming, internal, and outgoing documentation involved in grant work; maintaining documentation of grant activities, policies, procedures, and finances; exploring and outlining policies and procedures required for your grant project.

Module 4 – Grant Finances

Responsibilities to track and monitor grant expenditures; establishing working relationships with your organization’s accounting/finance office; creating and utilizing a budget expenditure tracking spreadsheet for your grant project.
